night hiking
Just stumbled across this video and need to comment. My family has lived in Ketchum/Sun Valley since 1971. I have spent a few seasons there full-time myself. Although I now live in Jackson Hole, I still have family in SV. I visit a couple of times a year and always find myself hiking Baldy for a workout.

Over the years, I have lived in 6 different ski towns with varying tolerance to hikers. The Sun Valley Company has always lead the way in this department. I expect tolerance in smaller resorts but they don't get any bigger than SV and yet you guys RULE when it comes to hikers! I know there has been discussion and some conflict in the last few years. I keep my ear to the ground on this topic. However, in spite of that, you guys remain open and even produce a great video like this one. Truly amazing!

I have watched the Wood River Valley change a lot over the last 3 decades. However, I believe that hiking Baldy is symbolic of the culture the area nurtures which has produced so many great athletes. I applaud your efforts and encourage management to continue to foster this good will with all the athletes going "against the grain" at this incredible resort.

Thanks again. See you on the hill.

Friendly plowers
I'm not a "night hiker" but an early morning hiker so I top out around 8am and have always found the guys driving the plows friendly and on alert (it doesn't hurt to have a head-lamp, reflection, etc.) and haven't come across a Winch Cat yet. I have a pass too but I like my early morning workout and it is nice to get first turns on the hill too and still be at my desk by 8:30. I haven't done this elsewhere but it's nice that there's good outreach like this video from the resort.

I've read about some of the uphiller/downhiller conflicts but a little common sense and courtesy goes a long way towards avoiding that.
