A little extra on some of our New Musicians -
Below for March, you'll notice that we've got Ravin' Wolf playing on the first and second Wednesdays. Ravin' Wolf sounds pretty talented and has played a lot of festivals. They're coming in from Seattle and will be having a big electric performance at Whiskey Jacques (on the weekend in between our Weds gig dates, I think), although they'll be going acoustic at Papa Hemi's, which should make for a fun contrast with Whiskey Jacques. Here's their contact info in case you're interested in doing some kind of write-up or interview --
Also, Dan Freeman is getting out his blues guitar as a solo act and played at PHH last Weds. for the first time solo. He'll be playing again later in March. "Farmer Dan," as I call him, is quite an interesting guy. In the summer, he is one of the leading local organic produce growers for local restaurants - working his small plot in Hailey for tasty local greens, tomatoes and such. He also sells at the Farmers Markets. Dan is a superb musician with eclectic tastes that he executes exceptionally well. I can't remember all the musicians he covers, but a few are Tom Waits, Jimi Reed, Steve Earl and Eddie Vetter. Dan is actually a local boy who's a Harvard grad and played football there. Very bright, very real, down to earth - you'll like him. Last time he performed on a regular basis was with a big electric blues band at Whiskey Jacques and suchlike bigger venues. Check him out if you have time (Dan disdains answering machines, so you'll have to catch him live - he's a really busy young guy with 3 or 4 kids, so he doesn't do a lot of e-mail). -
Freeman.dan@hotmail.com. Now playing solo. Booked in Feb/March 2010. Solo playing and singing. Bluegrass, blues, Tom Waits, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash - building a "really killer solo act," looping multiple instruments, etc.
Thank you!!
Matt
