Very welcome visitor
I may not agree with Mr. Steele's politics but I am happy to have any visitors here spending money with local businesses during slack. It was great this last weekend in Eugene how that liberal haven didn't exhibit Tea Party-like behaviors when Sarah Palin visited. Instead they welcomed her to Eugene even though they vehemently oppose her narrow-minded views. http://www.examiner.com/x-39974-Eugene-Headlines-Examiner~y2. Let's not lower ourselves to those behaviors like the idiots during the healthcare town halls last summer. The democracy I know and love welcomes disagreement in a civil manner.

Michael Steele's visit
Yes, by all means, let's welcome those people we disagree with, even though they be narrow minded and/or idiots. How condescending and intolerant can one be? No need to worry about "lowering" the standards of behavior; it's already there. Isn't Democracy supposed to be about an open sharing of differing opinions? What ever happened to all those who would call themselves Liberals and/or Democrats who urged everyone to be tolerant of others opinions? Does that only apply to opinions that agree with their own? And one last thought; when you resort to name calling, you've lost the argument. I may disagree with you, but that doesn't make either of us an idiot or narrow minded. It simply means we disagree.

RNC Chairman
Who cares who he brings? I think we should be gracious hosts and then get them out of our town.

Michael Steele and critics.
Ms. Friedlander lectures on being civil and welcoming those with whom we may disagree to our community and then immediately launches a diatribe against Sarah Palin and,"those Tea Party idiots". So much for civility and reasonable discourse.

Ms. Rice, obviously did not take Ms. Friedlander's advice as she attempts to insult Mr. Steele by equating him with some strip show she witnessed when last visiting Las Vegas.

Mr. Steele who is guilty of being both black and Republican has been referred to as an Oreo, an Uncle Tom, and a Step & Fetchit by Obama supporters of similar temperament. He will, no doubt, be able to shrug off the inane ramblings of both Ms. Friedlander and Ms. Rice.

Mr. Suhadolnik - please don't misinterpret
Mr. Suhadolnik: You misquoted me. Read my comments again. I didn't say "Tea Party idiots" as you suggest. Let's review the facts. The fact is there have been some pretty bad things said by a fringe portion of the Tea Party movement. I grant you that there are many well-meaning people who haven't demonstrated that behavior and of course the media plays up the insults and colorful items but I've seen some appalling/insulting behavior. The "idiot" reference pre-dates the Tea Party movement being recognized. I classify someone an idiot when they shout down someone wanting to speak at a healthcare town hall whether they are a Senator or a person in a wheelchair. There's no place for that. Those folks are idiots in my mind. I don't believe the majority of Tea Partiers are idiots. I just said some of them have exhibited bad behavior.

Of course I don't condone things that you claim have been said about Mr. Steele. I haven't seen those but poor behavior isn't limited to one end of the political spectrum. It's just that Rush Limbaugh and company are increasingly standard bearers for the GOP and they don't seem to have a problem making stuff up like "death panels" that are a bunch of hooey.

Is it true?
Is it true that Michael Steele runs his speeches by Rush Limbaugh to make sure there is nothing in his speeches that might offend Rush?
