"Pippin" Opening Night ! ! ! Wednesday, June 16th

"Pippin", a story of family intrigue in the Court of Charlemagne, presented by St. Thomas Playhouse, opens Wednesday, July 16th, at The Community School.  The play is directed by Fiona Jane Harris-Ramsby, and includes an all-star cast of local performers, and returning actors.  Lead roles are played by Dawson Howard and Kevin Wade.  Additional cast members are: Judah Claffey, Izzy Taylor, Alex Kuntz, Camille Bourret, Cameron Rendahl, Louisa Waycott, Conor Zaft, Hailey Zanes, Noah Koski, Karlie Jeneson, Steph Sloan, Curtis Hopfenbeck, Harry Dreyfuss, Mia Jefferson, Emmet Fortuin,Peter Burke, Gretchen Halle, Brett Moellenberg, Chloe Chrysikopoulos and Sarah Adicoff.

Musical directors are Alyssa and Brad Hershey,  Alyssa will be performing "Spring", from Vivaldi's Four Seasons.  The music is wonderful,  The audience will recognize "Magic To Do", "Corner of the Sky", "Simple Joys", and other magical songs in the production.

Sherry Horton and Sara Gorby are choreographers, and Jessica Rice is stage manager and make-up director.

The director, Freddie Harris, is currently a graduate teaching fellow at The University of Utah.  She is getting her PhD in English with an emphasis in political rhetoric and critical discourse analysis - thus her preoccupation with The American Dream and other American myths.  This is the foundation for staging "Pippin" in steampunk, a mode which transgresses historical boundaries, and brings the fundamental elements of this story into contemporary life and times.

The story revolves around Pippin's ambitious quest for an extraordinary life, and the guides and experiences he finds along the way.  Sound familiar?  Be sure to come to The Community School Wednesday, June 16th through Sunday, June 20th.
