The Advocates is sponsoring The Advocates’ Attic Fashion Redesign Contest in conjunction with its Fashion Show in October. The contest is open to all fashion design enthusiasts and entry forms are available online at www.theadvocates-aplacetogo.org and at The Advocates’ Attic Thrift Store, 12 W. Carbonate St., Hailey. The Advocates’ Attic Fashion Redesign Contest and Fashion Show build awareness of youth education programs on healthy relationships and the prevention of domestic and dating violence. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The contest and show are chaired by Hailey resident Pattie Wells, a veteran hair stylist at Tru Spa and the owner of A:nu boutique. A:nu features 100 percent recycled and reconstructed cashmere accessories created by Pattie.
“Through my professional endeavors, I have gotten to know a wide variety of women in Blaine County, which has heightened my awareness of the need for education about the prevention of domestic and dating violence in our community,” said Wells. “As a mother of two young daughters, I know community awareness and involvement are vital to help keep our children safe and confident, so they can identify and build healthy relationships. I am grateful to be able to lend my creative talents and experience to this fashion show.”
“Pattie is an incredibly energetic and creative individual. The Advocates is thrilled to have her as an artistic force behind The Advocates’ Attic Fashion Redesign Contest and Show,” said Executive Director Tricia Swartling. “Pattie’s elegant fashions of 100 percent recycled cashmere are a favorite of local and national women.”
This contest is open to the public and features the opportunity to shop the amazing clothing treasures at The Advocates’ Attic Thrift Store and redesign your selections. There is no entry fee and top prizes will be awarded for each age and fashion category. Judging will be conducted by independent community judges.
