FOX News' "Red Eye" early-morning host, and "The Bible Of Unspeakable Truths" author Greg Gutfeld ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Gutfeld http://dailygut.com www.foxnews.com ) created another (perfect???) storm of controversy when he recently proposed on his widely-watched 3 a.m. (EST) FOX network program that New York City investors join him in helping build a gay bar next to the proposed Park51 Mosque -- sometimes referred to as the "Ground Zero Mosque" -- whose location will be just a few blocks from where the World Trade Center towers in lower Manhattan once stood.
"An as an American, I believe they have every right to build the mosque -- afterall, if they buy the land and they follow the law -- who can stop them?," Gutfeld said on his FOX News program.
"Which is why, in the spirit of outreach, I've decided to do the same thing. I'm announcing tonight that I am planning to build and open the first gay bar that caters not only to the west, but also to ISLAMIC gay men. To best express my sincere desire for dialogue, the bar will be situated next to the mosque Park51, in an available commercial space.
"This is NOT a joke. I've already spoken to a number of investors who have eagerly pledged their support in this bi-partisan bid for understanding and tolerance. As you know, the Muslim faith doesn't look kindly upon homosexuality, which is why I'm building this bar. It is an effort to break down barriers and reduce deadly homophobia in the Islamic world.
"The goal, however, is not simply to open a typical gay bar, but rather one that's friendly to men of the Islamic faith. An entire floor, for example, will feature NON-alcoholic drinks, since booze is forbidden by the faith. The bar will be open all day and night, to accommodate men who would rather keep their sexuality under wraps -- but still want to dance.
"Bottom line: I hope the mosque owners will be as open to the bar as I am to th
e new mosque. After all, the belief driving them to open up their center near Ground Zero is no different than mine.
"My place, however, will have better music!!
"Some proposed names (for the bar):
The Queer'an, Gaybraham's, Mohammie's Retreat, The 72nd Virgin, Jihad Me At 'Hello', The Gay Allahs, Allahu Gaybar, The Sphinx-ter, Queer Eye For the Jihad Guy, The Homo Side Bomber, Jihad's and Rods, Weapons Of Ass Destruction, Allahs in Wonderland, Midnight At the Oasis, Mecca Inn & Out, SCUD Marks, Khomeini Men/Kholittle Time, Mo's Hole, Allah Akbar & Grill ... and Osama bin Dover."
The recently-proposed counterpoint that Gutfeld cannily and bravely broached on his widely-watched FOX News program -- btw, you can read it in its entirely, and also a number of other often verrry funny (and insightful) diatribes/caustic assaults of one sort or another by Gutfeld (including ones on "Avatar" director James Cameron," CNN (including its always-loathesome and gender-questionable talkshow host, Joy Behar), the desperately-unfunny Bill Maher, ultra left-wing pundits Jeanine Garofalo and Rosie O'Donnell, "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, MSNBC's David Shuster and Keith Olbermann, and, perhaps worst of all, that Hugo Chavez adoring actor-director Sean Penn at http://newsbusters.org/people/greg-gutfeld -- was met immediately with a slew of "Islamaphobic"-inspired criticisms from various media outlets, who took Gutfeld to task for making a "mockery" out of a proposed "sacred holy place of worship."
Well ... speaking as a native New Yorker, I think Gutfeld's recent idea would be a really terrific way to show just how incredibly and unrelentingly NARROW-minded the Islamic religion is -- a radiant, irrefutable fact that I think, ultimately, is what REALLY scares people about Gutfeld's unabashedly brilliant idea.
I know that our increasingly moronic and myopic "Obama-nation" President seems to STILL think that Islam is primarily a religion of "peace" (bigggg surprise, huh?!?!?!?!) -- as do, pathetically, many members of the mainstream press, including ones located right there in Manhattan, also (CNN and MSNBC being just two of many, many out there) -- but as Morgan Norval so wisely, powerfully and thoughtfully points out in his non-fiction bestseller, "The Fifteen Century War: Islam's Violent Heritage," Islam, by its very edicts, unflinchingly divides the world into just two parts: "Dar al-Islam" (the world of Islam) ... and "Dar al-Harb" (the world of war).
Doesn't exactly leave a whole lot of room there for a religion-based "middle-ground," now does it, people???
Always amazes and amuses me in equal measure whenever I hear glorified "passengers in an empty car" go on and on ad nauseam about Islam being a "religion of peace," when NOTHING in its blood-drenched, Jacobean-like history has shown ANY sort of tolerance or understanding for anyone or anything that isn't devoutly Islamic in nature!!! (And yessss, I'm well aware of the Christian Crusades era, and how blood-drenched THAT was -- Ridley Scott's "Kingdom Of Heaven" (2005) does a superb job of dramatizing that very subject, for those of you who aren't -- but I'm pretty sure there weren't any Christians involved in "9/11," the Pan-Am explosion over Lockerbie, Scottland, OR, for that matter, the 1983 Marine barracks bombing in Lebanon!!)
Nooooo, what Greg Gutfeld has done is shine a VERY bright (and MUCH-needed) light on just what DOES constitute Islamic-based "tolerance" -- both here in the U.S, and abroad. And it'll be verrry interesting and telling in the coming months just what does transpire from Gutfeld's proposed gay-bar idea (I can practically hear New York City's unabashedly socialist mayor Michael Bloomberg grinding his teeth over it right now!!! (LOL)
In the meantime, obtaining and reading a copy of Norval's superbly researched and written 200-page "The Fifteen Century War: Islam's Violent Heritage" (2002, McKenna Publishing Group) might not be a bad idea. Ditto, Greg Gutfeld's very own "The Bible Of Unspeakable Truths" (2010, Hatchette Book Group) -- which I absolutely can't wait to read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
