SVO Contributor John Pluntze Responds to Mt. Express Letter-To-the-Editor By Bali Szabo

Bali High???

I'm guessing among the many Israel-related articles that Hailey's Bali Szabo hasn't read -- and probably never will -- is a 10/22/'05 article by Tom Gross, former Jersusalem correspondent for the London Sunday Telegraph, entitled "The Forgotten Rachels" ( http://www.tomgrossmedia.com/TheForgottenRachels.html ).

In it, the article lists some of the scores of people who've been killed in Israel by Palestinians -- a number of them, including Rachel Levy (17),  Rachel Ben Abu (16), Rachel Levi (19), Dorit Aniso (2), and Yuval Abebeh (4) -- even younger than the terminally naive and rather dangerously unhinged Rachel Corrie was.

Gross' article also includes some of those now-famous shots of Corrie happily and eagerly burning an American flag in 2003 in front of scores of very impressionable Palestinian children in Gaza, less than two years after 9-11 happened. (The very same less-than-flattering photos of Corrie -- odd how none of THOSE are ever used in the play, huh!?! (LOL) -- are included in a superb March, 2008 discussion of the play that's available at

Btw, am I the only person here who still vividly remembers network news footage of Palestinian adults and children in the Gaza Strip happily laughing at and joking about the U.S. after 9-11 occurred (much the way they did similarly in Iraq, Iran and Syria)???

Gross' article also includes that wonderfully telling photo of Rachel Corrie's parents proudly accepting from none other than Yasser Arafat a portrait of their late daughter a scant six months after Rachel was killed!!

Other articles be sure NOT to read Mr. Szabo include:

"Katharine Viner Nails Her Colors To the Mast Head" ( http://www.solomonia.com/blog/archive/2010/07/katharine-viner-nails-her-colors-to-the/ ), an article that vividly depicts Viner's longstanding, radiant anti-Semitic tendencies (Viner, of course, is London's The Guardian newspaper editor who, along with Alan Rickman -- an actor whom the The Guardian, under Viner's tutelage, named "One Of the Best Actors To Never Have Received An Academy Award Nomination" -- pared down Rachel Corrie's 200+pages of diary entries, e-mails, letters, etc, into that extremely shallow and one-sided play ... carefully omitting words such as "Palestinian genocide" more than once in the process).

And talking about a "conspiracy of silence" -- as Mr. Szabo did recently in his letter whining about that "well-oiled Jewish PR hit squad" that was understandably irate back in July at the nexStage -- if this Rachel Corrie play (btw, I saw it in 2006 at the Seattle Repertory Theatre) is something OTHER than just verrry thinly-veiled propaganda, then why is the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) -- of which Rachel was a member -- NEVER EVEN ONCE mentioned by name in that "play," even though it's mentioned more than once in Rachel's diary, etc???

Rachel Corrie/Bali Szabo Letter Longgg Overdue!!
I was re-reading this afternoon some of those articles from solomonia.com and elsewhere that I cited in that rebuttal letter-to-the-editor I recently sent to both SunValleyOnline.com and also the "Idaho Mt. Express" newspaper, regarding that verrry shallow and self-serving 9/1/'10 letter-to-the-editor Hailey's Bali Szabo wrote that was published in last week's "Express."

Never ceases to amaze and amuse me in equal measure how thinly-veiled Israel-hating Jews such as Szabo can simultaneously hide behind our Freedom Of Speech Constitutional amendment and then spend countless paragraphs arrogantly and short-sightedly attacking both Israel and, by extension, the United States as well (since we give Israel billions in aid every year -- much of it for military procurements of one sort or another -- in a very real sense ANYTHING that happens there in Israel, including the death of 23-year-old International Solidarity Movement activist Rachel Corrie in 2003, is, indeed, blood on AMERICA's hands, too).

Sooooo nice that Bali Szabo gets to enjoy all the many, many freedoms of this country even while he -- and also his verrrrry kindred spirit/partner-in-crime, Don Liebich (who paid the travel expenses for Rachel Corrie's parents to come to the Wood River Valley so they could attend those two highly-controversial productions of "My Name Is Rachel Corrie" at the nexStage Theatre, back in July -- is sooo busy accusing...
