Winter Storm Warning Remains in Effect Until 5PM MST Tuesday

* Snow accumulations: Total snow from Monday morning until Tuesday afternoon... For the Lost and Little Lost River Valleys expect 6 to 10 inches. For the Wood River Valley... expect 5 to 15 inches. Above 7000 foot elevation... expect more than 10 inches. Above 8000 foot elevation... 2 to 4 feet of snow will accumulate over the two day period.

* Timing: Through 5 pm Tuesday afternoon. * Locations include: Stanley...Clayton...Copper Basin... Hailey...Ketchum...Sun Valley...Bellevue...Galena Summit... Smiley Creek Lodge.

* Winds: Ridge and mountain pass wind will peak this afternoon in the 20 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph. Valley wind will range from 8 to 20 mph during the afternoon with gusts to 30 mph.

* Impacts: The combination of falling snow and blowing and drifting snow will create serious travel problems including temporary road closures. Travel along roads in the region will be hazardous.

* Monday night through Tuesday, conditions may improve temporarily on Monday during the day. However, hazardous travel conditions will return Monday night. Strong winds will produce areas of blowing and drifting snow. Near white-out conditions will be possible, particularly during the day Tuesday. Holiday travelers are urged to pay close attention to updated forecasts and warnings regarding this storm system.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and wind means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow and wind are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
