Wind Chill Warning in Effect from 11 PM This Evening to 11 AM MST Wednesday

Winter Storm Warning is cancelled.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Wind Chill Warning which is in effect from 11 pm this evening to 11 am MST Wednesday. The Winter Storm Warning has been cancelled.

The threat of heavy snow has moved out of the region. Therefore the winter storm warning has been cancelled. Light accumulating snow remains possible mainly this evening, and breezy winds may produce localized areas of blowing and drifting snow.

* Wind Chill values 30 below zero to 40 below zero are forecast mainly after midnight and continuing into the early morning hours.

* Locations include: All of the Sawtooth Mountains...the Big and Little Wood River region...and the Lost River Pahsimeroi region including Stanley...Hailey...Ketchum...Challis...Arco and Mackay

* Impacts: Bitterly cold temperatures and breezy winds will produce dangerously cold wind chills overnight and into Wednesday morning.

Some blowing and drifting snow can be expected during the evening hours, with winds gradually diminishing by midnight. Roads will remain snow covered and slick, so driving will remain hazardous through the night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.
