Pet of the Week: Zoey

Zoey is available for adoption at the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley.

Zoey has lived a fairly limited life, she didn’t know what to make of it and wasn’t too happy to be here.  Now that a little time has passed, Zoey has settled in and shown us what a nice dog she is. Zoey is incredibly well mannered.  She walks nicely on leash, she never jumps on people, and she's very gentle. She is great with other dogs, and appears to be fully housebroken. In Zoey’s past home, she was allowed to bark at strangers, and she and her brother enjoyed barking at people they did not know. As you can imagine, this is not a good trait to have at an animal shelter, so we’ve been working with Zoey to have her respond to strangers with a wagging tail, rather than barking. Zoey is a very quick study,  and she’s doing well. We do recommend a home that can continue to keep this behavior and check.  Perhaps a home with another, well-mannered dog, would be best. This girl deserves a shot at the good life, and looking for someone special to give it her. Zoey is a spayed female Australian Shepherd/Lab mix born around September 2005.
