Music News: Ethan Tucker Returns For 3 Shows; Hoodwink, Swamp Cats Rock Whiskey's, Silver

By John Pluntze

This weekend's music offerings are once again a verrry eclectic and electric mix -- and include not one, but three shows featuring that reggae-blues sensation from Twin Falls, Ethan Tucker, whose last gig here in the Wood RIver Valley (last month, at Bellevue's The BrickHouse) was a stellar, sold-out concert people here are still eagerly talking about.

Indeed, Tucker ( http://www.myspace.com/etuckermusic ), who's currently ensconced in a busy tour schedule promoting his latest album ("Lost Between"), will return again tonight at The Roosevelt Grille (726-0051/ Sun Valley Road & Main Street) at 10 p.m. -- a venue where he first was introduced to Valley audiences last winter, after Roosevelt owner Tom Nickel caught one of Tucker's standing room-only shows in Twin Falls last Fall and immediately wanted to book this boldly-original and endlessly-energetic 21-year-old musician for his Ketchum eatery ... a musician who has since played at a myriad of Wood River Valley venues, including Whiskey's, The Sun Valley Pavilion and the Sun Valley Brewery.

Ethan Tucker will also appear once again tomorrow (Saturday) night) at 8 p.m. at The BrickHouse bar & restaurant in Bellevue (202 S. Main Street/ 788-4999 / www.brickhousebellevue.com ), as well as at Ketchum's Sego restaurant next Wednesday (Dec. 22nd), at 8 p.m. also -- THREE chances to catch this incredible, incredible talent!!!!!!!

Also tonight, at The Silver Dollar Saloon in Bellevue (101 S. Main Street/ 788-2900), that seriously rockin' blues band, The Swamp Cats (featuring virtuoso George Marsh), returns for another gig there, with music slated to start at  9  p.m.

DJ Tessa (Bradley) -- who, btw, won the highly-coveted Wagon Days poster contest earlier this year, and who just last Friday was drawing a huge crowd there at The Silver Dollar -- will be doing her terrific vinyl-spin thing tonight at The Hailey Hotel bar & grill (788-3140/ 201 S. Main Street), with music slated to start at 9 p.m. (until 1 a.m. or so).

Tonight, at Whiskey's (251 N. Main Street/ 726-5299/ www.whiskeyjacques.com ), another Valley fave who recently had EVERYONE up and dancing at both The Silver Dollar (just last week), and also at The Roosevelt Tavern (on Halloween) -- Hoodwink http://www.myspace.com/hoodwinkrocks ) -- will be playing at 10 p.m. (until 1:45 or so). This serously high-energy '80s/'90s rock-classics cover band is an absolute must-see for anyone who hasn't as yet!!!

On Saturday night, the first anniversary of that justly-venerated Ketchum watering hole's new building will take place, with music courtesy of the highly-acclaimed Boise-based rock/new wave/pop band, Pop Cult Kids ( http://www.myspace.com/popcultkids ), who will take the stage there at Whiskey's, at 10 p.m. (until 1:45 or so).

As part of its celebration, Whiskey's on Saturday night will be featuring various drink specials -- and also an assortment of terrific raffle prizes (including two snowboards) -- to help mark the one-year anniversary of its new, greatly-expanded, state-of-the-art building there on Main Street.

And on Monday night (Dec. 20th) at Whiskey's, there'll be yet another live-music treat for avid dance fans when Wally Ingram ( www.wallyingram.com / http://www.myspace.com/wallyingram ) and Jerry Joseph ( http://www.myspace.com/jerryjosephsolo / www.jerryjoseph.com ), take the stage there, with music slated to start at 10 p.m.

Both Ingram and Joseph have extremely impressive, wide-ranging music credentials -- both collectively and individually -- and they're currently on a cross-country tour promoting their latest album, "Civility", which has garnered rave reviews and lots of ear play across the U.S. already.

And that's just some of the fun that awaits avid music lovers here in the Wood RIver Valley this weekend!!!
