THE SECOND ANNUAL STANLEY-SAWTOOTH WINTERFEST – FEB 12-13, 2011
Stanley, Idaho, a mix of Cowboy boots and River sandals in the summer months becomes a winter paradise during the colder months. This weekend is a Stanley style weekend like no other. If you like Stanley in the summer, I would highly recommend checking it out for the 2
nd Annual Winterfest!
Let’s get to the basics:
Saturday Events:
High Noon: Ace of Diamonds Drag Race
- Registration begins an hour before the race inside the Kasino Club
1 P.M.- Outhouse Race
- The outhouse can be “traditional” or, of course, “non-traditional”. It must be mounted on skis, and it must be “manned” by a pilot whose pants are down around his/her ankles…a two-man crew will propel the craft down Ace of Diamonds Avenue to the finish line.
Stanley LawnChair Pond Hockey Tournament- all afternoon
Snowman Building Contest- All Day
- The main corners in town… bring your food coloring, shovels, carrots, hats and any other appropriate snow-creating materials.
Sled and Tube Hill
- Located just across from the Community Building, along the East side of the Airport Road is open all weekend.
Cross Country skiing at the Elementary school
Big Air Competition Pre-Event party
- 4 – 8PM at Mountain Village Restaurant
Sunday
1 P.M. Blind Snowmobile Race
- The groomed figure eight course will be located up behind the picnic shelter on the Airport Road. Participants need a crew of two – the driver is blindfolded and the passenger directs the driver from behind…verbally…by pressure…encouragingly guiding the blindfolded driver in the nicest possible way.

Really, what more could little ol’ Stanley pack into one weekend? How about the best scenery around? The Sawtooth Mountains are a spectacular site to be seen, especially covered in snow.
This is one weekend not to be missed. Plan your trek to the Sawtooth Valley for a weekend that will go down in the record books.
