Travel Sketching with Susan Perin at the SV Center

Ketchum, ID – Do you dream of painting a journal on your next vacation?

In this one-day workshop offered by the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, you’ll learn how to make quick sketches that will keep your impressions alive. You can use these sketches as the basis for paintings done later in the studio or just collect them as a unique record of every trip you take.

Instructor Susan Perin has perfected a technique of making quick sketches with watercolor, pen and a special sketching brush, and she’ll share what she’s learned with you. The materials and methods are so convenient and compact you can even paint in a moving train, car or bus.

Born and raised in England, Perin studied art throughout her childhood. She later moved to the United States and graduated from Parsons School of Design. She has had numerous solo, group, and juried shows and has received awards for her watercolor and acrylic paintings.

Travel Sketching in Watercolor meets Saturday, July 16, from 8 am to 4 pm at The Center, Ketchum. Some watercolor experience is required. Cost is $100 for Sun Valley Center for the Arts members and $150 for nonmembers, plus a $40 supply fee. Registration deadline is Friday, July 1.
