Liz Lowry & Renee Peters Receive Accolades at the August 9, Regular School Board Meeting

The Blaine County School District School Board will meet on Tuesday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the District Office at 118 W. Bullion in Hailey.

WRHS educators Liz Lowry and Renee Peters will receive an accolade from the School Board at this meeting. A WRHS parent wrote , “I will not go into details, other than to let you know that for a variety of reasons my son struggled mightily with his academic work. There was a time in his sophomore year that I was absolutely convinced that he would not finish high school. At some point in his junior year, my son let me know that he would stay in school and finish because Mrs. Lowry convinced him that he could graduate and that it was the right thing to do. In my experience, the Individual Education Program kept my son in school and showed him he could succeed.”

This letter was paraphrased with the author’s permission. For a full reading of the letter about Liz Lowry, Renee Peters and the value of the Individual Education Program, attend next week’s board meeting.

Other highlights of the meeting include a Curriculum Report from Director of Curriculum Patricia McLean, who will discuss the goals and focus of curriculum for the coming year. School Board Chair Steve Guthrie will report on the Board Retreat. Board meetings are held in public and there are two regularly scheduled times for public comment. Board meetings are also webcast. At next week's meeting, improvements to the webcasts will also be discussed.
