Free Online Help - Understanding Your Financial Options

Fannie Mae, a government-run company has recently launched a website that features a virtual assistant who invites visitors to explore various alternatives to foreclosure, including a refinance, a loan modification, a short sale or a deed-in-lieu of foreclosure.

The site is fully bilingual.

One great feature is a lookup tool that allows homeowners to find contact information for their mortgage servicer and helps people locate housing counselors.

Videos capture compelling testimonials from real homeowners who have worked out solutions to their housing problems. A woman who said she just completed a short sale two days prior expressed relief at avoiding damage to her credit score and the shame of a foreclosure, while having her mortgage debt wiped away. "There was no way in the world that I was going to be able to pay that back," she said.
