locals
good job,and boy can i relate. having put some 12 years in bellevue, moving to california for 25 years and returning to bellevue in 1990, i found the 'local' absurd. my resort when asked where i was from, was that i graduated from bellevue hi (which closed in 1963). the response was usually 'bellevue where' or 'i didn't know there was a hi school in bellevue'. that usually ended the conversation about locals.

Definition of a local
After deep study, I have found the definition of a local at least in the Wood River Valley. It's anyone who has lived in the valley one day longer than you. It doesn't matter if you are 8 or 88. That is the definition. The only true natives I know are the Native Americans. Everyone else (or their forefathers) came here in the last 100 or so years. Just a nanosecond in the big picture.
