The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 6 PM MDT Monday. \
* Snow Accumulations: 4 to 10 inches with the highest amounts at or above 6500 feet. * Timing: Snow will begin tonight and continue through Monday afternoon. Lower elevations will likely see a mix during the afternoon. * Locations Include: Arco, Mackay, Craters of the Moon, Hailey, Ketchum, Sun Valley, Bellevue, Galena Summit, Smiley Creek Lodge, Copper Basin and Edie Ranch. * Winds: South to southeast 10 to 20 mph. Speeds in the mountains will reach 20 to 25 mph and locally higher. * Impacts: Snow, moderate to locally heavy at times along with gusty winds will produce low visibility and hazardous conditions especially in the mountains. In lower elevations slushy conditions will also produce hazardous driving conditions at times. * Snow accumulations: 7 to 15 inches. * Elevation: above 6500 feet. * Timing: Thursday morning through Friday afternoon. * Locations include: Ketchum, Sun Valley, Galena Summit, Smiley Creek Lodge * Winds: southwest 5 to 15 mph. * Impacts: heavy snow accumulation will make for hazardous travel for those out and about in the back country.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Wind Chill Warning which is in effect from 11 pm this evening to 11 am MST Wednesday. The Winter Storm Warning has been cancelled.
The threat of heavy snow has moved out of the region. Therefore the winter storm warning has been cancelled. Light accumulating snow remains possible mainly this evening, and breezy winds may produce localized areas of blowing and drifting snow.
* Wind Chill values 30 below zero to 40 below zero are forecast mainly after midnight and continuing into the early morning hours.

Day 2 of training here on the X-Games Boardercross & Skiercross course.Check this live video shot by US Snowboarding team Head Coach, Peter Foley. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/4257666 The course is very intense and challenging, this particular feature "The Bread box" had all the boys intimidated, finally a young US rider Alex Deibold was the first one to do this feature. But the amazing thing was Helene Olafsen, current World champion from Norway did the feature cleanly! This blew all the guys away and forced all of them get some courage to try the feature. All the big dogs looked good, Wescott, Holland, Watanabe, Alex Pullin(AUS), David Spieser (GER), Marcus Schairer (AUT), for the girls Lindsey Jacobellis & Helene were on fire.............back to the waxroom for wax-on, wax-off, time trials in the am.........more videos to follow.......Curtis

The report and video below are from the Sawtooth National Forest Avalanche center's website and YouTube channel . The tragedy at the Sun Valley Resort is a good reminder to "know before you go". The Avalanche Center is a tremendous resource with valuable information as well as schedules of training. Yesterday was another busy day for avalanches in the Wood River Valley. We had reports of slides on Minebender that probably ran Friday; these were wide and debris from one reached the valley bottom. A skier triggered a small slide in bounds at Baldy, and natural avalanches were visible on Durrance and in Anderson and Buccal Creeks. A party on Prairie Peak reported widespread whumpfing and collapsing and skiers in Timber Bowl remotely triggered a slab 2-3 or more feet deep yesterday afternoon. Yesterday evening, a series of natural avalanches on the east face of Della temporarily blocked the river near Hailey in three places; the powder cloud reportedly dusted a man walking his dogs and two men were stranded...
